East Tennessee Flood Donation Opportunities

Oct 07, 2024

Donate to families & local farmers affected by hurricane Helene - Tennessee Farmers Cooperative Foundation
As we look for opportunities to assist in disaster relief in East Tennessee, we recognize the needs are immense and urgent. We want to create an easy and efficient way for our Co-op community to support our neighbors in need.

Co-op patrons can set up a Round–N–Raise Disaster Relief item number at the Co-op where they do business to make donations. This item number would be managed in the same manner as the current Round–N–Raise item numbers. The item number is R&RDisasterRelief.

Participants can also donate on the TFC Foundation website at www.ourcoopfoundation.org. Simply click the donate button and follow the instructions. All donations from today through October 31, 2024, will go to East Tennessee Disaster Relief. Donors need to type “East TN Disaster Relief” in the comment section.

General donations to affected communities must go through a Tennessee Emergency Management Agency site to be distributed per the State Veterinarian, Dr. Samantha Beaty, at the Tennessee Department of Agriculture. Links to approved sites are available at this link: www.tn.gov/tema/updates/hurricane-helene/volunteers-and-donations.

We appreciate your willingness to help. The past week has been very stressful for all those affected as producers struggle to address issues that the flood created. Producers will have both short-term and long-term needs that will need to be met in the coming days. We are encouraged to see how the Cooperative Spirit is on display during this trying time as so many stepped up to aid our member Co-ops and producers. The strength of our system is what we can accomplish by working together and the way we demonstrate our concern for our communities during times like these.

Thank you for your care and generosity as we strive to help those affected by the flooding of Hurricane Helene.

The Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement Program (TAEP) was established in 2005 to provide cost share dollars to agricultural producers for the purpose of making long-term investments in Tennessee farms and communities. Participation allows producers to maximize farm profits, adapt to changing market situations, improve operation safety, increase farm efficiency, and make a positive economic impact in their communities. More than $267 million has been invested in 86,655 producer projects from 2005 through 2023. Each TAEP dollar generates $6.55 in local economies.
